South African football

Now famous since the 2010 World Cup started the football team in South Africa are affectionately called "Bufana Bufana" which means "Boys". Host the 2010 World Cup has pushed back the South African football in the spotlight, but as with the rest of South African history, things were not simple. South African football was banned by FIFA (International Football) through the system of apartheid in the country, not returning to the world stage in 1992 after a change in government policy on race.

South Africa through soccer British soldiers to play the game in the nineteenth century. From the early days of football in South Africa at the end of apartheid, the national leagues South Africa were under the "all white Football Association of South Africa" with the authorities and the leagues separate the colors and beliefs. With Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan, South Africa founded the Confederation of African Football. However, when it became clear that the constitution of South Africa was in contrast to the anti FIFA teams of racial segregation, they were disqualified the competition after failing to comply with a period of one year to fall in line with the policy of FIFA. England Sir Stanley Rous (FA-president and later president of FIFA) conducted a brief re-invitation to World Cup in South Africa because it was his believe that football itself was suffering because of the ban and that the sport could die in the country, possibly to the point of no return that young people have grown up without exposure to the sport. The reintroduction was briefly closed in South Africa were again expelled following the Soweto uprising 1976. A decision taken at the annual meeting of FIFA in Tokyo.

In 1991, the apartheid system was derived to an end in South Africa and with it a new multi-racial football team was formed which was approved by FIFA. Their first official match was directed against Cameroon July 7, 1992, their first national game for over two decades. South Africa won the match 1-0 but of course there was much greater than winning the match result.

South Africa qualified for the finals of the World Cup in 1998 and 2002, and gained automatic qualification for 2010 as they were the host country. Unfortunately for South Africa, they failed to call the first group stage one of the three championships. Despite this, they make a lasting impression on the football world with their accommodation dynamics of the tournament (they are the first African nation to host the famous tournament) and passion of their millions of fans. Most successful in South Africa to a level International came in 1996 when they won the African Cup of Nations, a tournament which they again organized. South African football has warmed to host the 2010 World Cup with the Games Confederation in 2009. This time they have qualified from their group with a victory over New Zealand, a draw against Iraq and a loss of European champions Spain. A defeat in the semifinals of the Brazil World Famous end to hopes South Africa.
