Create the Look of an Actual Painting with Canvas Printing
In showcasing masterpieces, canvas has been the top choice of artists for centuries. History of canvas is rich and full of character. Its earliest application was its use as a sail, and as an awning or tent. The canvas of ancient times was made of hemp, flax or linen. Canvas eventually replaced the use of wood panels as a surface for painting. Prior to the 20th century, linen was used to make canvas when cotton was not still commonly used. The surface of canvas is not perfectly smooth; therefore the texture has an effect on each painting when it’s applied. Modern canvas is made from cotton. It is a better material for canvas printing because they can be stretched more than linen and has a more even mechanical weave that can last for decades. It also gives pictures a museum-quality look.
Digital printing is a breakthrough in printing technology and has created a big impact in canvas prints. With this modern technology, ink jet can be used to produce stunning pieces of art. Canvas printing is not an easy job. It requires skills and creativity. One should be an expert in color adjustments, photo restoration if needed, print sizes and other factors in order to produce canvas prints of highest quality. Quality of images, design, color combination and canvas frame play major role in making a canvas printing. Different canvases carry different meanings and only a creative mind can understand those meaning.
Several styles can be used for excellent results such as black and white, sepia, banksy and Warhol. Canvas prints are available in different sizes with various types of mounting options such as mount on stretchers, gallery wrap and museum wrap.
A single canvas print uses only a single photo to be printed on canvas. A photo montage print requires you to choose several photos to be combined into a montage. Multi canvas print is done by breaking a picture into equal segments. Each segment is then printed on a different canvas and displayed with small gaps. There is also what they call pop art conversion.
Canvas printing is a technique that is used to transform photos into an amazing work of art. Except for human images, you may also use photos of places, animals, sceneries and many more. It enhances the quality of prints. It creates the look and feel of an actual painting.
